Well, actually I stumbled upon your video while preparing my class on stress at work. I teach English as the second language in Poland, and I decided to focus more on the job of a teacher. I am going to use your video in my class :-). What do I do to preserve as a teacher? The problem is I don't think I can do anything. It makes me mad. Recenlty I realized I wake up at 5 AM, go to school and leave that place tired at 6 PM. Of course the rest of the day is spent on perparing classes for another day. The only positive aspect is that my studenents are never bored in my class. They like authentic materials I use. They find their English coursebook inauthentic and boring. Greets from Poland

It’s really hard and somewhat defeating to watch this and it’s not your fault at all. It’s just that I’m doing my student teaching right now amidst a global pandemic and I can’t do half of the things you suggested which breaks my heart. I am currently doing student teaching AND it’s VIRTUAL 😭😭😭😭😭. This virtual setting really throws me off . But my master or mentor teacher is great at her job. I’m willing to gain all the experiences and knowledge that I can get .

Yes being prepared as a student teacher is important and also not being afraid to command the classroom. Yes, all lessons should have a BME. I like student teachers to use the I do, we do, you do method.

I am currently student teaching and a method that helped me a lot was our flow on my observation days. On my observation days, I watched my mentor teach the lesson in first period, taught second period, then was observed teaching third period. I watched then immitated her flow of the lesson and was able to practice(she stepped in to help when needed) before observed which helped my nerves a bit. We did this order also on days that I wasn't observed which has helped me.

For me it is a laptop. I know some schools let you time them home my school does not. I would recommend a Mac

I listen to music and journal at lunchtime... I also ask students to keep non urgent complaints away from me during this time...it's my me time..

Soo I know this video is old people may never see this but.. I have 1 semester left until I am a student teacher, right now I am an intern and.. I feel really confident in the social aspect, how to interact with students, other teachers, principal, parents etc but when it comes to actual lesson planning/teaching material I dont feel prepared at all. I feel like none of my classes are really helping me in that aspect and its terrifying! I am hoping that next semester and my future classes will provide more but I have heard of people further in the program feeling underprepared as well and its scaring me haha.. my student teaching is 1 whole year so I'm hoping thats enough to get me ready to actually be a teacher 🤞🏻😢😭

I love the idea of a color printer in my classroom. I will have to check before I connect it to my work computer but I love that idea. Also one of my personal favorites is a PowerPoint clicker. You can buy them on Amazon and it’s so nice because you don’t have to be standing at the computer all day you can click from anywhere. I also agree with you about the laminator and paper cutter. So nice to have a case of last minute things.
